Green men win

Guwahati: Green Valley Sports Club won the 5th Kamakazi Nripendra Narayan Bhattacharjya Trophy knockout football tournament title, defeating Dynamo Club 2-1 in the final at Nehru Stadium here on Saturday. Green Valley scored through Danjay Brahma and Abraham Goodluck, while Onyebi Nandos Ogboma reduced the margin for Dynamo. Green Valley defender Lalit Konwar was adjudged the Best Player.

U-19 probable

Guwahati: Assam paceman Krishna Das was named among the probables for the Indian under-19 team for a tour to Kenya. The Indian camp will be held at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore later this month. The selection was made from the inter-zonal tournament held in Bangalore.

Soccer

Guwahati: The Haramaya Deka and Maniram Baran one-day prizemoney football tournament will be held at the Railway Protection Force ground in NF Railway Colony here on July 26. Teams can register after paying a joining fee of Rs 171. The winners will be presented with Rs 2,001 and the runners-up Rs 1,500, along with the trophies.
