Royal pieces from Rajasthan

Udaypore Collection

This will be the Udaipur-based brand’s first showing in Calcutta. The nine-year old furniture and artefacts label specialises in the “art of silver cladding”, that goes back to the 12th century (1150). “Pure silver sheets are pasted on wooden furniture,” explains Pankaj Paliwal of Udaypore Collection. A wide range of designs can be found on their catalogues including oriental, classical, French and gothic. “We have lion heads, monograms, tiger paws and other such designs on our furniture,” says Pankaj.

Calcutta will get to see dining sets in “Italian concept”, complete with a “marble table-top”, swings and a couple of chairs. “On the chair, you can find a lion and a parrot head together,” adds Pankaj.

The one-year-old Jaipur-based jewellery label will be getting two of their collections to Cherry Orchard. While Tijori will be a complete ethnic collection, the Da Vinci line will incorporate Italian design elements. “Our jewellery is a mix of gold, silver and diamond,” says Abhishek Haritwal of Haritsons Design Pvt. Ltd.
