Blast in Tinsukia

Dibrugarh, July 8: Panic struck Tinsukia town at 4.30pm today following a blast at a scrap dumping ground in the Durgabari area. Police are yet to ascertain the cause of the blast. There was no report of injury.

PULF leader

Imphal: Md Anish, chairman of the Azad faction of the Peoples United Liberation Front, who was arrested from Bangalore by a joint team of Manipur police and Karnataka police on Monday was brought to Imphal on Wednesday.

Smugglers

Dhubri: Eight cattle smugglers were arrested by police from different places at Sukchar in Dhubri district on Wednesday. Eighteen heads of cattle were recovered from them.

Convict held

Guwahati: Police arrested Akash Ali, 37, from the Hatigaon area on Wednesday. Ali was wanted in connection with a murder case registered at Sarthebari police station in Barpeta district in 2004.

Arrested

Jorhat: Jan Gogoi was arrested by police from Karaighar area under Pulibor police station in Jorhat district on Tuesday night for his alleged involvement in a prostitution racket.
