Lashkar trial

Islamabad, July 4 (PTI): The trial of five Lashkar-e-Toiba operatives, including its operations chief Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, has been adjourned till July 18 because of non-availability of a judge.

Justice Sakhi Muhammad Kahut, who had been hearing the case in an anti-terror court in Rawalpindi, has been removed and there has been no movement in the case since May 23. The accused have been linked to the 26/11 attacks.

Teacher held

Srinagar (PTI): A teacher at a government school was arrested on Saturday for allegedly sexually harassing a Class X girl in Budgam district. Mohammad Ashraf Dar was arrested after the girl’s parents lodged a police complaint.

Triple eclipse

Hyderabad (PTI): Indians will witness three eclipses in a month, a rare astronomical phenomenon. The first will be a penumbra lunar eclipse (the moon will be darkened by the earth’s shadow) on July 7, followed by a solar eclipse on July 22 and then another lunar eclipse on August 7, the Planetary Society said.

Rape rehab

New Delhi (PTI): The National Commission for Women has demanded a rehabilitation scheme for rape victims to help them get their life back on track. The commission, in a letter to the Prime Minister, demanded the scheme be launched as soon as possible.

Tigress death

Chikmagalur (PTI): A tigress was found dead at the Bhadra reserve forest near Karnataka’s Chikmagalur district. It had been shifted to the reserve forest area after it attacked domestic animals in the Heggadadevana Kote forest area.
