Body recovered

Kokrajhar, June 22: The body of an ex-BLT cadre, Mukul Daimary of Boro Kursakati, was recovered from near Basugaon railway station in Chirang this morning. Daimary went missing yesterday.

Militant dead

Imphal: A joint team of police and the Assam Rifles shot dead a suspected militant near Thoubal bazar at 10.30pm on Sunday. The body is yet to be identified.

Absu protest

Kokrajhar: The Baksa district unit of the All Bodo Student’s Union burnt question papers of lower primary schools’ mid-term exam after students of 96 venture schools in the area were denied question papers.

Rebel held

Dhubri: The BSF on Monday apprehended Mohiruddin Sheikh, a suspected fundamentalist, with 72,700 Bangladeshi taka near Balajan.

Directive

Dhubri: Dhubri superintendent of police Partha Sarathi Mahanta on Monday directed Bilasipara police station to register a case of funds embezzlement of a solar energy project at the instance of Gauhati High Court.

Rail blockade

Guwahati: The AASU-sponsored two-hour rail blockade on Monday failed to have much of an impact. Railway sources said apart from three passenger trains, services were smooth throughout the state.
