Imphal, June 22: Indira Memorial Club Mayang Imphal, won the boys and girls’ titles of the 29th Mini Boys State-Level Handball Championship played at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex today.
In the final match of the mini girls, Indira Memorial Club had an easy win of 22-10 goals against Leishangthem Wangmataba Youth Club.
S. Sarjubala Devi topscored for Indira Memorial with 11 goals, while teammates Ksh. Biju Devi contributed nine goals and Y. Chaoba Devi and Th. Prity Devi scored one goal each for the win.
For the runners-up team, Leisangthem Wangmataba Youth Club, Th. Ranjta Devi fetched four goals while L. Anjubala Devi scored three goals, Th. Priya Devi netted two goals and Th. Roshnibala Devi contributed one goal.
In the mini boys’ category, Indira Memorial Club defeated Eastern Sporting Union 22-15 for the champion’s title.
L. Langamba Singh led his team, scoring 14 goals while I. Tomba Singh contributed four goals, L. Prabin Singh netted two goals and L. Chingkhei Singh and Y. Zackson Singh chipped in with a goal each.
Despite a gallant fightback by the Eastern Sporting Union, Th. Sashikanta Singh’s defiant score of 12 goals went in vain, along with Th. Surajkanta Singh’s two goals and A. Arun’s lone goal and had to be content with the runners-up title.
Bodybuilder N. Kishen Singh and M. Shaolin Singh have been shortlisted to attend a selection trial at Jalandhar on June 27 for the 43rd Asian Body-Building Championship to be held at Aurangabad, Maharashtra, from July 24-27.
