Judges in custody
Hyderabad, June 20 (PTI): A father-son duo, both judges in Andhra Pradesh, have been arrested and remanded in judicial custody in connection with a dowry harassment case.
The complaint was lodged by T. Shashikala, wife of Kiran Kumar. She alleged that her husband and in-laws had been harassing her for four years. Kiran Kumars mother has also been arrested.
Nepal talks
Kathmandu (PTI): Nepal and India have agreed to reactivate the bilateral mechanism to resolve the border dispute between the two countries and expedite implementation of agreements. The decision was taken at a meeting between foreign secretary Shiv Shankar Menon and Nepal Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal.
Paper leak
Bangalore (PTI): Bangalore University has filed a criminal case against a private college following a B.Com examination paper leak, a university official said. The Central Crime Banch police has been asked to investigate the leak and the college has been blacklisted, the vice-chancellor said.
Liquor delay
Surat (PTI): Rail traffic on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route was disrupted for after passengers found a large number of liquor bottles in a compartment train. Passengers pulled the chain on finding the bottles. The Mumbai-Viramgam train was stopped near Surat for an hour.
Flesh racket
Bhopal (PTI): Police on Saturday claimed to have busted a prostitution racket in Bhopal with the arrest of 15 persons, including six girls. One of the girls, who is from Pune, told the police that she was a bar girl and used to come to Bhopal to make quick money.
Freak death
Jammu (PTI): A village defence committee member was killed when he accidentally shot himself in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. Sham Lal was cleaning his loaded rifle when he accidentally pressed the trigger. Lal was hit in the chest and died in hospital.
