Four NDFB cadres killed
Kokrajhar: Four NDFB cadres were killed and another apprehended in a joint operation by police and the army at Dakhin Jhargaon Nathkuchi in Baksa district at 10.15am on Sunday. Superintendent of police Rana Bayan said they had specific information on the movement of some armed youths in the area and launched the operation from Udalguri and Baksa where the encounter took place. Three of the deceased have been identified as M. Rojong, Birdao and Mritunjay.
Recovered
Kokrajhar:
Police on Sunday recovered seven grenades and two detonators from a bus at Gogra (Goreswar) Chawk under Tamulpur police station in Baksa district at 1pm. One Uttam Basumatary has been arrested.
Lightning victims
Hailakandi:
Alim Uddin Mazumdar, 30, died on the spot and four others were injured when lightning struck them early on Sunday at Paikan village in Hailakandi district. The injured include Babul Hussain Choudhury, Rejak Uddin Choudhury, Sabul Hussain Choudhury and Anwar Hussain Choudhury.
Minor dead
Dhubri:
Four-year-old Asma Khatoon died on the spot when a speeding truck knocked her down on NH 31 at Tie Bundh near Beer Chilarai Bridge in Dhubri district on Saturday.
Cattle auction
Dhubri:
Cattle auction, which was shifted to the BSF camps along the border three months back from Dhubri custom office following a clash between two groups, will resume at the Dhubri custom office from Monday.
