Ranchi, June 12: Seeking solace from the cruel heat? Head to Ranchi Club tomorrow.

The club has organised a downpour amid peppy tracks and disco lights. The rain dance with the theme “beat the heat” will be held at the poolside from 8pm till the midnight.

Jyoti Bajaj, the chairperson of entertainment committee at the club, said rain dance is an annual event of the club and is eagerly awaited by all the members.

“We started the event for the youngsters but we saw that people of all ages are enjoying to dance under artificial rain. Last year, the enthusiasm was infectious and people who could not even manage a single dance step, also joined in. This time, we have also made arrangements for a dry area where those who do not want to get drenched can also enjoy themselves.”

The poolside area will be divided into two sections — one will be the wet area and the other section will have no artificial rain. “Through 50 inverted sprinklers, fed by a heavy jet pump, we will produce the artificial rain,” said the chairperson.

What is a rain dance without good peppy music? The club management has invited a DJ from Calcutta to churn out some good foot tapping numbers. The ambience will be made complete with lasers and smoke. And to give the place a disco feel, big sound boxes will be kept along with a woofer. The décor will be done of umbrella and raincoat tents to give the area a monsoon look.

and the dress code for the evening will be floral motifs, casual or beach wear.

Swimming and water polo contests are scheduled at the club later this month. While contests like relay, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle will be held for swimming contest, the water polo competition will be held for the juniors (below 18) and seniors.
