Calcutta: With the League stage of the Indian Premier League (IPL) now complete, Rohit Sharma has been named as the prestigious Citi Under-23 Success of the Tournament.
The adjudicators of this award are three former Indian captains and members of the IPL Governing Council Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri and MAK Pataudi. They reached the decision unanimously that Rohit had been the best cricketer in the Under-23 category over the season.
Rohit scored 333 runs at an average of 27.75, at the high strike rate of 119. He has also taken 11 wickets at an average of 11.45. He wins an award of Rs10 lakh from Citi. Rohit, delighted to be named winner, said: To be recognised for my achievements by three of the living legends of Indian cricket is a great thrill for me.
