Kokrajhar, May 18:
The apex Bodo literary body, Bodo Sahitya Sabha, today set a May 31 deadline for the state government to address the various problems of Bodo-medium schools or face an agitation.
MLA remand
Guwahati:
The Bokakhat MLA, Jiten Gogoi, was on Monday remanded to judicial custody.
Kidnapped
Chirang:
A businessman, Babu Saha, was kidnapped by unidentified criminals from Bhur Tinali under Runikhata police station in Chirang district on Monday. In Dhubri, Ram Rabha was kidnapped from a hotel opposite the LIC building in Goalpara on Monday. He was later released.
Bombs found
Imphal:
Police on Monday recovered two bombs from the quarters of SBIs MG Avenue branch manager Thangkhansan Tunghut at Lamphel Super Market at 11am.
Tanti aid
Dibrugarh:
The deputy chairman of the state planning commission and Sonari MLA Sarat Borkotoky on Monday handed over a cheque of Rs 3 lakh to the family of Bishnu Tanti, the physically challenged boy who was killed in a fake encounter by the army in January this year.
Rally
Jorhat:
About 35 organisations, under the banner of Nirjatan Birodhi Ekya Manch, on Monday took out a rally in Jorhat to protest police brutality on LIC employees on Wednesday.
Traffickers held
Goalpara:
Two fake currency traffickers, Bishu Miah from Bangladesh and Abdus Sabur of South Salmara, were arrested by the 3 Sikh Regiment from Hazirhat in Dhubri on Monday.
