Acid on judge

Hyderabad, April 21: A petitioner threw acid on a judge’s face today because he was upset over the verdict.

Naga Maruti Sarma is being treated for burn injuries in Kakinada, around 500km from Hyderabad. Aku Suryanarayana threw the acid as Sarma was reading out the verdict.

IIT-JEE plan

New Delhi (PTI): The IITs have rejected the HRD ministry’s proposal to allow SC/ST students more chances to clear the IIT-JEE. The joint admission board, the highest body to take decision on the IIT-JEE, said the step was not required. The IITs allow all aspirants two chances to clear the all-India exam.

Kandhamal

Bhubaneswar: Orissa police on Tuesday claimed to have picked up a Maoist commander, Udaya alias P. Rama Rao, who allegedly masterminded the killing of VHP seer Swami Laxmananda Saraswati that sparked last year’s anti-Christian riots in Kandhamal.
