Midnapore, April 13: Congress ally Jharkhand Party (Naren) has not withdrawn its cand-idates for the Jhargram and Purulia seats. Today was the last date to do so for the first phase of the polls in the state (April 30). JKP (Naren) chief Chunibala Hansda had been elected MLA from Binpur with Congress support. She had told Pranab Mukherjee the two would be pulled out.

Calcutta: The Demo-cratic Students’ Organisation trounced the SFI 11-2 in the first elections to the undergraduate student body at SSKM Hospital. “It was neck and neck for most of the posts,” said the director. Of the 428 students, 414 had voted.
