Southern slaughter Youth

Imphal, April 9: Southern Sporting Union men today smashed Youth Welfare Club 7-0 to brighten their prospects in the 3rd Manipur State League played at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.

Except for a match between North Imphal Sporting Association and Tiddim Road Unique Gamy Players Union to be played on Sunday, the 10 other teams in the league completed their respective matches today.

As of now, Southern Sporting Union and Manipur Police Sports Club are tied at 48 points, but the former enjoys the upper hand with a better goal average. North Eastern Re-Organising and Cultural Association are placed next with 33 points, followed by Youth Welfare Club, United Sporting Association, Eastern Sporting Union, Phoudel Youth Club and Tiddim Road Athletic Union. They have 23 points each.

Sunday’s match between North Imphal Sporting Association, who have 47 points, and Tiddim Road Unique Gamy Players Union with 46 points, is crucial for deciding the league champions and the runners-up team.
