Mamata ‘blocked’

Bankura, April 4: The Trinamul Congress today alleged that party chief Mamata Banerjee’s path was blocked by CPM marchers when she was going to a rally in Bishnupur, Bankura.

Mamata’s convoy had to stop for the CPM procession at a village in Bankura, about 250km from Calcutta. She got down from her car and reportedly told the processionists not to block the way. When they left, she continued towards Bishnupur.

But in the evening, Trinamul supporters lodged a complaint at Mejia police station in Bankura against the CPM marchers. The police, however, said there was no trouble.

Molest case

Durgapur: A teacher was arrested for allegedly molesting a Class II girl inside a school in Asansol. Police said Subhas Prashad took the girl to a store room and embraced her.

Bus kills girl

Barasat: A bus on Saturday rammed into the metal shade of a stand that fell on a girl, killing her. Sixteen-year-old Shamima Parveen was under the shade of the stand when the private bus with passengers on board lost control and rammed into it. Shamima was taken to a hospital but was dead by then. The driver of the bus escaped.
