Concern

Kohima, March 15: Concerned over forest fires in many parts of Nagaland this year, the state government has ordered the forest authorities to take adequate measures to check destruction of flora and fauna. In a notification issued by Nagaland commissioner H. K. Khulu on Saturday, village authorities and town councils have been asked to check forest fires in their respective jurisdictions.

Bandh

Nagaon: The Ex-BLT Welfare Society on Sunday called for a six-hour Karbi Anglong bandh from 5am on Monday in protest against the killing of its cadre Lanka Basumatary by suspected NDFB militants on Friday.

Kidnapped

Shillong: A petrol pump manager was kidnapped by five armed men after robbing him of Rs 90,000 at Rajaju in West Khasi Hills on Saturday night.

Six injured

Dhubri: Six passengers were injured when two auto rickshaws had collided at Kharuabandha under Mancachar police station of Dhubri district on Sunday.

Minister denies

Imphal: Manipur power minister Phunjathang Tonsing on Sunday said he was not contesting the Lok Sabha election from Outer Manipur (ST) as he had not applied for a Congress ticket.
