Mangalore, March 9 (PTI): An engineering student has been arrested for allegedly trying to rape an Australian tourist at a beach resort in Karanataka’s Uttara Kannada district.

Sharan Gouda, 20, had allegedly attacked the woman on Saturday when her husband was not around. She raised an alarm, after which resort staff caught the youth and handed him over to police.

Gouda, who studies in an engineering college in Bangalore, was today remanded in judicial custody till March 23.
