Fast post

Travelling to foreign universities for degrees is common. But before one actually flies, one has to spend hours sending application forms, requesting grants, making queries and so on. Much depends on how efficient the delivery service is.

DHL, an important player in the international express and logistics industry, has come up with a new service — called DHL University Express — to facilitate such correspondence. The new system aims to deliver students’ applications to universities abroad in a more reliable, secure and faster way.

Special coupons have been introduced to help students manage their critical documents around the world. A 10-coupon booklet costs Rs 8,250, offering an additional saving of 17 per cent, while a five-coupon booklet costs Rs 4,375, offering an additional saving of 12 per cent. The coupons are valid across the network of Blue Dart-DHL retail outlets in India.

Know thy body

The need to educate young people on sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) is being felt more than ever before. With this in mind, J.D. Birla Institute organised a talk on the subject on February 26 for BSc final-year students of the department of home science. Dr Arnab Basak, consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist, Apollo Gleneagles Hospital, Calcutta, delivered a lecture which was followed by an interactive session. Issues covered included the meaning of STD, its prevention, common diseases and their symptoms, how to know if one is infected, and cure.

BSc final year, J.D. Birla Institute.
