Guwahati, March 3: Defending champions Food Corporation of India (FCI), Delhi, eased past Radial Club, Nagaon, by five wickets and RS Academy, Delhi edged past Bud Cricket Club by seven runs in two league matches of the 2nd Airtel Santosh Kumar Roy invitation T20 cricket tournament at Nehru Stadium here today.
While the first match of the day was a rather one-sided affair, the afternoon affair ended in a nail-biting finish with 12 runs needed off the last over. The Bud side lost two quick wickets to fall seven runs short of the target.
In the morning match, FCI won the toss and opted to field first. Radial were restricted to 130 for eight and in reply, the Delhi team reached the target in 19 overs.
Rajinder Bisht topscored for FCI with a strokeful 51 off 44 balls to be eventually adjudged the Man of the Match.
Spinner Bichitra Baruah of Radial took four wickets.
Earlier, Dhiraj Goswami topscored for Radial scoring 33 runs. Pankaj Thakur and Rohit Saini of FCI took two wickets each.
In the second match, RS Academy elected to bat first and were restricted to 134 for nine, chasing which, the Bud side fell seven runs short.
Amit Yadav topscored with 40 runs for RS Academy. Krishna Das of Bud scalped four for 19.
For Bud, Rishav Das and Subhadeep Ghosh were the notable scorers while Amandeep Sonkar of RS Academy notched up four for 13.
