Infiltration worry for Assam police

Guwahati: Police got a whiff of Ulfa moles infiltrating the city as private security guards through placement agencies that do not properly verify their antecedents. This fact surfaced on Sunday during interrogation of Ulfa member Madhusudan Das, 24, (in Eastern Projections picture right) who was arrested from Jalukbari on Saturday. The police said Das was staying at a rented house in Amingaon for the past six months.

Guwahati: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Sunday announced its Assam unit general secretary Akshay Kumar Rajkhowa as the party candidate for the Guwahati Lok Sabha seat.

Construction

Guwahati: The water resource department has decided to complete construction of the concrete walls along the banks of Bharalu river within March.

Guwahati: The 10th foundation day of the Dimasa Sahitya Sabha (DSS) was observed with a daylong programme on Saturday.

Body found

Guwahati: Police recovered the body of an unidentified woman from a pavement near T.C. Girls’ School on Sunday. The police said the deceased may have died from some ailment as no injury mark was found on her body.

Accident

Nagaon: Five persons, including three women, were seriously injured when their vehicle collided with a truck at Manja on Sunday.
