Daimary to fight on

Kokrajhar, Feb. 28: The ousted president of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB), Ranjan Daimary alias D.R. Nabla, has said that it was a testing and challenging time for the outfit and its leadership but vowed to carry forward the outfit’s struggle for freedom of the Bodo people. Bodos are born warriors and the outfit will carry on with its struggle for liberation of the Bodo community,” Daimary said at the 32nd batch military training passing out day at an undisclosed location recently.

New terminus

Dibrugarh: Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Saturday inaugurated the new terminal building of the Dibrugarh airport at Mohanbari in Dibrugarh district.

Arrest

Kokrajhar: Two persons, Modan Ali, 22, and Sagar Ali, 18, were arrested with two AK-47s, 14 rounds of live ammunition and two grenades from Dakin Kajalgaon Nilibari in Chirang district on Saturday.

Burnt

Kokrajhar: A man was burnt to death when a truck was set on fire at Kathalguri Tilapara near Dangtol railway station in Chirang district in the wee hours of Saturday. Police suspect the driver of the truck was burnt to death by his helper.

Ambulance

Dhubri: Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma formally inaugurated Mritunjoy 108, an emergency ambulance service, in Bongaigaon and Dhubri districts on Saturday.

Statue

Dibrugarh: Dibrugarh MP Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday laid the foundation stone of the installation of a statue of Chowlung Siu-Ka-Pha on the Siu-Ka-Pha Bhawan premises at Barbaruah.
