Pledged share rules

Mumbai, Feb. 3: Sebi has asked listed companies to disclose pledging of shares by their promoters in their quarterly shareholding pattern as well as financial results from the current quarter onwards. This follows the amendment announced last week that requires the companies to disclose pledging of promoter shares, if any, within seven days.

FDI ceiling

New Delhi, Feb. 3: The empowered group of ministers tonight left unresolved the issue of changing the formula for FDI ceiling in different sectors. “There are still some anomalies left ... we will have another meeting,” commerce and industry minister Kamal Nath said after a meeting of the EGoM, headed by external affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee.

Govt borrowing

New Delhi, Feb. 3: The government is likely to announce an additional borrowing for the rest of the current fiscal in its interim budget on February 16. There is a move to revise the earlier announced additional borrowing of Rs 50,000 crore for the last quarter to meet the additional expenditure.

MF assets

New Delhi, Feb. 3: Assets of the mutual fund industry have increased by Rs 40,000 crore in January. Total assets under 35 mutual fund houses have soared to Rs 4,60,949 crore following an increase of Rs 39,833 crore at the end of January, according to the Association of Mutual Funds in India.

GDP forecast

Mumbai, Feb. 3: The economy is likely to slow down to 6 per cent in 2009-10, way below the earlier projection of 7.5 per cent, according to a sponsored survey by the RBI.

Telecom duo

Mumbai, Feb. 3: Vodafone Plc has posted a 14.3 per cent jump in revenues at £10.47 billion for the December quarter. Motorola suffered a loss of $3.6 billion for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2008.

Hanover fair

Calcutta, Feb. 3: Around 150-160 Indian companies will participate in the Hannover Messe — a five-day industrial fair starting April 20 at Hanover, Germany.
