Biocon profit dips

Biotech major Biocon has reported a dip of 90.3 per cent in its net profit at Rs 28.20 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2008. The firm had posted a net profit of Rs 291.82 crore in the corresponding period last fiscal. The firm’s revenue during the quarter stood at Rs 1,187 crore (including Axicorp) and Rs 889 crore (excluding Axicorp) during the quarter.

Voltas net

Voltas’s net profit for the third quarter ended December 31, 2008 declined 10.18 per cent to Rs 42.41 crore from Rs 47.22 crore a year ago. Total income of the company rose to Rs 876.19 crore for the quarter under review against Rs 674.74 crore for the year-ago period.

Novartis show

Novartis India’s net profit for the third quarter ended December 31, 2008 grew 7.56 per cent to Rs 24.17 crore from Rs 22.47 crore a year ago. Net sales increased to Rs 156.93 crore during the reporting quarter from Rs 136.18 crore a year earlier.

Crompton

Crompton Greaves’s consolidated net profit for the third quarter ended December 31, 2008 rose to Rs 123.22 crore from Rs 82.71 crore in the same quarter a year ago. The firm’s consolidated total income during the quarter stood at Rs 2,158.60 crore against Rs 172.13 crore last year.

Oudh Sugar

Oudh Sugar Mills Ltd has posted a net profit of Rs 15.21 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2008 against a net loss of Rs 3.28 crore a year ago.
