Avinav hits unbeaten 200

Avinav Dixit scored an unbeaten 200 and Abhishek Das scored 160 as Aikya Sammilani scored a mammoth 422 for five on the first day of their CAB league match against Belgachia United. In reply, Belgachia were 30 for two at stumps.

Shyambazar also scored a huge 442 for seven, riding twin centuries by Gitimoy Basu (159) and Surajit Das (106). Kumartuli Institute’s Sambit Roy (5/89) and Netaji Subhas Institute’s Sanjay Paul (6/83) were the bright spots for bowlers on a batsman’s day.

Junior meet

Qualifier Zainab Ali Sajjad produced the only upset of the day at the ONGC ITF Junior Tennis at the DKS Sports Complex Tuesday, beating sixth seed Ankita Raina 6-4, 6-2 in girls’ singles. Eighth seed Nakireddy Sai Karthik beat Srikar Alla 4-6, 7-6(7-3), 6-1 in boys’ singles.

State games

The 2nd Netaji Subhas State Games will be held from Friday till January 30, the Bengal Olympic Association announced Tuesday. The games will be held in venues across 11 districts. Union sports minister M.S. Gill will inaugurate the meet.

Bengal win

Bengal defeated Goa 2-0 to win gold in football in the Special Olympics Tuesday.
