Special train

NF Railway will run a special train between Guwahati and New Bongaigaon twice a week (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) starting from Tuesday.

A railway official on Monday said the decision to introduce the train was taken to ease the rush of passengers.

Husband held

Police arrested Trailakya Kalita on Monday in connection with the death of his wife, Pratima, under “mysterious” circumstances on Sunday night. Kalita was arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by Pratima’s family. The couple lived at Ujani Nagar in Bhagadattapur.

Blast victim

A 30-year-old rickshaw puller, Anwar Ali, who was injured during the January 1 bomb blast at Bhootnath, died at GMCH on Monday.

City police picked up the president of Dimasa Students’ Union, Kebaron Naiding, and its assistant finance secretary, Janata Kemprai, from a private lodge at Dispur on Sunday night on suspicion of their having links with militants.
