Guwahati/Dibrugarh, Jan. 15: Hosts NF Railway rode a century by Pritam Debnath to 328 for eight in 90 overs on the first day of their two-day senior inter-district cricket tournament elite group league match against Charaideo at their home ground in Maligaon here today.
Electing to bat, the railmen started cautiously and Pritam Debnath played a patient knock of 107 runs to help his side to a comfortable total.
Ranji players Chandan Rawat and Parag Das also contributed with useful knocks of 39 and 27 runs respectively. Wicketkeeper-batsman Amjad Ali remained unbeaten on 62.
Binoy Kalita was the pick of the Charaideo bowlers with four wickets giving away 86 runs while Manash Jyoti Gogoi scalped two wickets for 19. Mridul Bordoloi and Prasun Rajkonwar also claimed a wicket each.
In another match that got under way at the Dibrugarh District Sports Association Stadium today, winning the toss, Dibrugarh put their opponents Karimganj to bat first and bundled them out for 137 runs in 36 overs.
Sanjib Choudhury topscored with 49 while D. Patra contributed with a solid innings of 21 runs. For Dibrugarh, medium pacer Rituparna Fatuwali picked up three wickets for 40, while Saurav Bhagawati, Salim Ahmed and Prasanta Sonowal captured two wickets each.
In reply, Dibrugarh were 187 for three wickets in 54 overs in their first innings at the end of the days play. Opener Utpal Deka scored an unbeaten 42 and Situ Das contributed 30. Skipper Saurav Bhagawati who played an attacking game and remained unbeaten on 93 facing 111 deliveries. For Karimganj, Ratnajit Roy picked up two wickets for 44.
