Inter-school cricket

National High School beat St Xavier’s Collegiate School by 18 runs in the Inter-School Twenty20 Championship, held at the Mainland Sambaran Cricket Academy on Monday.

Charity meet

The Association of Bihar Cricket with the approval of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will organise a Twenty20 tournament at Moinul Haque Stadium in Patna from January 17-19 to raise funds for Bihar flood victims, according to a release from the organisers.

Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma along with few former cricketers are expected to be seen in action at the meet.

Sailesh no more

Noted sports journalist Sailesh Chowdhury passed away on Monday after a brief illness. Chowdhury, who was 84 years old, is survived by his wife. He was a founder member of the Calcutta Sports Journalist Club.
