CAB joins hands with MCC

Calcutta: The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has joined hands with the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the first official Test played at Eden Gardens in 1934.

The match was played between an Indian side led by C.K. Nayudu and a touring England side led by Douglas Jardine from January 5-8.

CAB president Jagmohan Dalmiya unveiled a unique cover featuring the scorecard of the Test match and a stamp. The stamp features the photographs of the two captains of the match.

“The process of collaboration started in October itself when Mike Brearly was at the helm (of the MCC). Now after Derek Underwood became the president, we wrote to him suggesting a series of proposed collaborations.

The MCC committee approved the plan in November and the unique memorabilia is a product of this initiative,” Dalmiya said.
