Culling operation

Guwahati, Dec. 27: The veterinary department today launched culling operations in two new villages of Pathsala and Hajo revenue circles in Kamrup district following the outbreak of bird flu in these areas. he movement and sale of poultry products in these areas have been banned.

Arrests

Dhubri: Police arrested four NDFB cadres and two linkmen from Soulmari in Goalpara district on Saturday.

Death

Kokrajhar: A 30-year-old man, identified as Dhanmoni Kalita, was killed by unidentified assailants on Friday evening at Charaimari in Assam’s Baksa district.

Inquiry

Shillong: A magisterial inquiry has been ordered after the jail inmates of Tura launched an agitation following the death of a fellow prisoner.

Rebel killed

Imphal: A suspected militant was shot dead by a combined force of the Assam Rifles and police at Kakching Tejpur in Manipur’s Thoubal district at 12.15am on Saturday. Two hand grenades were recovered from him.
