Highway blockade
Dhubri: Two organisations have resolved to call a 12-hour blockade on the Assam-North Bengal National Highway 31 on January 19 and a rally on the Cooch Behar palace ground on January 29 to press for Kamtapur state.
The Rajya Punor Uddhar Samiti, a co-ordination committee of the All Koch-Rajbongshi Students Union (AKRSU) of the Biswajit Roy faction and the Greater Cooch Behar Peoples Association decided on the bandh at a meeting today.
Body found
Dhubri: The body of 24-year-old Raj Kumar Chouhan was found hanging in the Dhubri Municipal Board office on Thursday morning.
Train
Dergaon: Residents of Dergaon on Thursday demanded that the special train between Mariani to Guwahati should continue. The Railways had decided to withdraw the train from January.
Robbed
Hailakandi: At least 20 Mizo passengers travelling on a Guwahati-Aizawl night superbus were robbed at gunpoint at Panchgram in Hailakandi on Wednesday night. One of the dacoits, Koiz Ali, was arrested during a routine checking of vehicles.
