Guwahati, Dec. 25: Delhi Public School will meet Srimanta Sankar Academy in the final of the 2nd Abani Hazarika inter-school (under-14) cricket tournament at Janata Bhawan Parade ground here tomorrow.
In the semi-finals today, DPS defeated Kendriya Vidyalaya, Khanapara (KVK) by eight wickets while Sankar Academy was awarded a walkover against South Point School after the latter walked out in protest against “overaged players” in the opponent’s team.
Batting first, KVK were restricted to 133 for seven in the stipulated 20 overs. In reply, DPS romped home losing only two wickets in 16.3 overs.
Debashish Kashyap topscored for KVK with 45 runs, while Jyotishman Khatoniar contributed 25. Subham Debnath and Sanjow Brahma of DPS took two wickets each for 42 and 17 runs respectively.
For DPS, Sanjow Brahma scored 41 and Hrishikesh Tamuli scored 30. Nitin Jha and Debashish Kashyap of KVK claimed a wicket each. Sanjow Brahma was named Man of the Match.
The organisers awarded a walkover to Sankar Academy on the grounds that “South Point School did not lodge any official protest and simply walked out”.
