Sikh riot statement

New York, Dec. 24 (PTI): A two-member CBI team has arrived in the US to record the statement of a key witness in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case.

Jasbir Singh had alleged that former Union minister Jagdish Tytler had instigated rioters. The statement will be recorded in San Francisco as Singh had refused to visit India saying he feared he might be killed.

Molest doctor

Mainpuri (PTI): A case has been filed against a doctor and two medical attendants for allegedly trying to molest a 16-year-old girl admitted to a district hospital at Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh’s. Dr U.C. Chaturvedi and the attendants allegedly tried to molest the patient after sending her father to buy medicine. The doctor has denied the charges.

J&K rescue

Srinagar (PTI): Rescuers on Wednesday located 19 people who reportedly went missing in Kargil last week because of snowfall. The 19 had taken shelter inside a hut near Parkachik. All of them were safe.

Derailed

Varanasi (PTI) Twelve coaches of the Jammu-bound Himgiri Express derailed near a station here on Wedneday. Over 20 passengers received minor injuries. They were administered first aid on the spot.
