Jamshedpur, Dec. 23: BJP legislator from Jamshedpur (W) Sarayu Roy today demanded a CBI probe into the government’s move of allotting Ghatkuri iron-ore mining lease to six private parties.
Roy had moved the Supreme Court about the government’s decision on October 3.
While speaking to reporters, Roy said, the government is bound by its gazette notification on October 30, 2006, where the department of mines and geology has maintained that the lease for Ghatkuri mines is reserved only for public sector undertakings or joint venture projects of the state government.
“However, without de-notifying this gazette notification, the state has now decided to give the mining lease to six private parties who approached the Supreme Court against the government’s decision to disallow them from using the mines. The present government is working against its own interest,” Roy said.
According to the BJP legislator, an independent inquiry is required to establish why the government misled the court.
