Break-up

B>n Nagaon, Dec. 22: The two-year-long tie-up between the Autonomous State Demands Committee (ASDC) and BJP in North Cachar Hills came to an end on Monday with the parties deciding not to carry on their strained relations any further. SDC chief Prakanta Warissa said it was decided at a conclave that the regional party should chart its future course alone. The BJP said the break-up was unfortunate and the result of a conspiracy hatched by the Congress.

Protest

B>n Dhubri: Teachers of non- provincialised schools of Dhubri staged a dharna on Monday in front of the elementary education office demanding regularisation of services and payment of salary.

Train fire

B>n Nagaon: Fire broke out in a coach of Janshatabdi Express at Laugaon station near Lumding after a short-circuit on Monday morning. There was no damage as the blaze was quickly brought under control.
