Howrah bridge bomb scare
The high court division bench of Justice D.P. Sengupta and Justice P.K. Deb completed hearing the bail petition of Pradip Todi, an accused in the Rizwanur Rahman death case, on Monday. The verdict will be delivered on Tuesday.
Special trains
Eastern Railway will run two pairs of special trains from Howrah to New Jalpaiguri on December 24 and 26 and from New Jalpaiguri to Howrah on December 25 and 27.
Mishap
Kiran Kumar Shaw, 37, was dashed by a speeding Tata Sumo at the intersection of Belgachia Road and Kundu Lane late on Sunday. The APC Road resident was admitted to RG Kar Hospital. The vehicle was seized but the driver fled.
JU award
Jadavpur University on Monday bagged the award for the best technical institution in the country from the Delhi-based Indian Society for Technical Education.
Scholarships
Besu graduates of the 1983 batch have instituted four scholarships for needy students. The scholarships will be announced later this month to mark the 25th year of their graduation.
Director critical
Filmmaker Tapan Sinha is still on ventilator at Calcutta Medical Research Institute. He was admitted on December 6 with pneumonia.
