Guwahati, Dec. 19: Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB) Sports Club, Guwahati, today blanked 2 Assam Special Reserve Force (ASRF), Diphu, 3-0 in the first quarter-final league match of the 57th Bharat Ratna Lokapriya Bordoloi Trophy football Tournament at Nehru Stadium here.
The powermen dominated the proceedings in the initial few minutes but was ably tackled by the opponents. They had to wait till the 23rd minute for their first goal.
Medio Mani Kanta Brahma drew first blood for ASEB in a solo effort.
Conceding the goal, the visitors went on the offensive trying to restore parity. However, the ASEB defence was experienced enough to thwart the attacks. With the solitary goal, ASEB continued almost throughout the match till two more goals were scored in the dying minutes of the match.
Bikash Narzinary enhanced the lead with an 88th minute goal when he made no mistake in tapping a Sanjiba Rongpi pass into the net.
Seasoned defender Birendra Narzary netted the third goal for ASEB during injury time, converting a spot kick with precision.
Tomorrow, Assam Rifles will play Assam Police Blues, Guwahati in a quarter-final league match.
