Imran Khan hits out at India

New Delhi: Imran Khan Thursday accused India of maintaining double standards when it cancelled the proposed tour of Pakistan in 2009 while going out of its way to ensure that the English team return for the Test series after the Mumbai terror attacks. “I feel Pakistan is hard done by the decision. “It is double standards by India. It is not good for the two cricket boards and for the two countries,” said the former Pakistan skipper reacting to the Indian government’s decision to cancel the tour Thursday.

Bangla squad

Dhaka: Bangladesh have recalled left-arm spinner Enamul Haque, Jr. and batsman Rajin Saleh to the 14-man squad to play a two-Test series against Sri Lanka starting later this month.

BCCI book

Calcutta: A commemorative volume marking the platinum jubilee of Test cricket in India will be released at a ceremony before the start of the second India-England Test at Mohali on Friday, according to a BCCI release. The volume will be released by BCCI secretary N. Srinivasan.

ABC demand

Chandigarh: Former India cricketer Kirti Azad led Association of Bihar Cricket (ABC) Thursday urged the BCCI to declare the Lalu Prasad Yadav led Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) defunct and replace it with ABC.

Saina loses

Kuala Lumpur: Saina Nehwal lost her first match of the World Super Series Masters Final, against Danish Tine Rasmussen, in straight-games at Kota Kinabalu here Thursday. World No. 10 Saina went down 18-21, 14-21 to world No. 2 Rasmussen in a match that lasted for just 27 minutes.

Bhatnagar wins

Jaipur: Vikram Bhatnagar emerged winner in the Double Trap event of the National Shooting championship at the Jagatpura range here Thursday. Ajay Mittal won the junior event with a new national record of 138 while Army girl Varsha Tomar clinched the women’s title.

Shamim leads

Noida: Shamim Khan carded six-under 66 to lead after the second round of the ONGC Masters 2008 at the Noida Golf Club here Thursday.

Ghei tied 8th

Bangkok: Jeev Milkha Singh was at tied 65 while Gaurav Ghei was tied eighth after the opening round of the Volvo Masters here. Compatriots S.S.P. Chowrasia and Shiv Kapur carded an identical one-under 71 to lie tied 14th while senior pro Jyoti Randhawa was tied 41st.
