Bhutia injury worries Bagan

Calcutta: Mohun Bagan are likely to miss Bhaichung Bhutia in the 30th Federation Cup final against Dempo SC.

The Sikkimese sniper was taken off the field after he suffered a knee-injury during the extra time action.

According to club sources, Bhutia who was immediately taken to the hospital will undergo an MRI on Friday before any decision is taken about his availability for Sunday.

“We can’t say anything now. He will undergo an MRI scan tomorrow… We need to consult the doctor,” the Bagan official said.

However, sources close to the Indian captain revealed that he will be out of action for at least two months.

Meanwhile, in the first semi-final of the evening, striker Ranty Martins fell unconscious on ground after he collided head on with Churchill defender Kalu N. Ogba during a corner kick in the 73rd minute.

Both Ranty and Kalu were rushed to a nearby hospital and were later declared ‘out of danger’ by the doctors. It was learnt that the duo’s CT scans revealed no internal injury. However, they were not immediately released and will have another check-up on Friday morning.
