Gurbani stays in lead

Gurbani Singh maintained her lead after the second day in the 47th East India Ladies Golf Championship at the Tollygunge Club on Wednesday. Vani Kapoor was in the second position while Lavery Kumar was third.

Chess meet

Dibyendu Barua Chess Academy, in association with Children’s Book Fair & Bidhannagar Municipality, will organise a school chess competition at Karunamoyee, Salt Lake from December 26-31.

Adrija in final

Adrija Brahmachari and Ritika Kundu reached the final of the nursery girls’ singles category in the 74th State and Inter District Table Tennis Championship on Wednesday. Adrija defeated Debolina Das 11-6, 11-5 while Ritika beat Srijani Dey 11-4, 11-6. In the sub-junior boys’ team championship, Hooghly beat Chandannagar 3-0, Siliguri defeated Nadia by the same margin.

RCGC Cup

Ashbeer Saini carded a two-under 70 to be tied for the lead with HS Kang in the LG RCGC Cup at the end of the third round’s play at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club. With Raja Sardar in third place, five strokes behind the leaders, it is likely to be a two horse race on the final day.

Basketball

Chetal Park AC and WB Police SC reached the women’s quarter finals of the 28th Senior State Basketball Championship on Wednesday.
