Hailakandi, Dec. 15: Assam Rifles, Tezpur annexed the first Santosh Kumar Roy Northeast Invitation Football championship title defeating Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB) SC, Guwahati 3-1 in the final at Railway ground in Badarpur in Karimganj today.

Abel Sema scored two goals in the 47th and 83rd minutes while Bulu Jigdung scored in the 60th minute. The only goal for ASEB SC was scored in the 49th minute by Priya Kumar Singh.

The chairman of Karimganj zilla parishad Mamtaj Ali and president of Assam Cricket Association Gautom Roy gave away the prizes.

The tournament was named after Roy’s father, late Santosh Kumar Roy.
