Veteran XI wilt before Cosmo
- Latasil Cricket Coaching School awarded walkover after Nabajyoti fail to turn up

Guwahati, Dec. 9: Cosmo Cricket Club today defeated Veteran XI by six wickets with 2.3 overs to spare in a high-scoring 20 over match of the 17th Ankurjyoti Challenge Cricket Tournament at Latasil ground here today.

The another match today, Latasil Cricket Coaching School got a walkover, as their opponents Nabajyoti Club failed to turn up.

In the first match today, Cosmo rode a brilliant 49-ball-76 by Dilip Singh to overwhelm Veteran XI, who had put up a fighting total of 147 for eight in the stipulated 20 overs. Singh was well supported by Azharuddin Ahmed, who scored a cameo 23 off 24 balls.

Vikram Buzar Baruah of Veteran XI was the highest scorer for the team. He made a quickfire 37 off 20 balls. Dhiru Das also milked the Cosmo bowlers during his cameo 25 off 15 balls. Another batsman, Chinmoy Baruah, scored nine runs off 12 balls.

The rest of the batsmen, however, failed to make their mark.

Munna Narzary of Cosmo was the most successful bowler of the day claiming three for 12 off his stipulated four overs. Sambhu Jha supported him well claiming two wickets for 16 runs.

When Cosmo came down to bat, A. Das, Rajib Rajbongshi, D. Das and Chinmoy Deka picked up one wicket each for Veteran.

Yesterday, Gauhati Town Club (Maroon) and Vintage XI won their respective matches against Bud Cricket Club B and Star Sporting respectively.

Tomorrow, Riverine Cricket Coaching Centre will take on Noonmati Cricket Academy in the first match while Royal Rhino Club will clash with Gandhinagar Bikash Sangha in the second match of the day. The final of the 27-team meet will be held on December 24.
