Yakubu, Musah for Federation Cup

Suley Musah and Yusif Yakubu will be East Bengal’s foreigners in the Federation Cup, starting on Thursday. Only two foreigners are allowed to play in the tournament.

The preliminary list of 25 players also includes Surkumar Singh and Dharamjit Singh. East Bengal are scheduled to open their defence against New Delhi Heroes at Barasat on December 11.

Meanwhile, former stars Santo Mitra, Parimal Dey and Shyam Thapa paid rich tributes to Peter Thangaraj, who passed away recently, at a condolence meeting at East Bengal club tent on Tuesday.

Cricket meet

Shute Banerjee CCC beat Haldia Dock Institute by 64 runs in their Ambar Roy sub-junior cricket meet at Sukchar on Tuesday.

Ritchie best

Ritchie Agarwal beat Sanil Jagtiani 6-0, 7-5 to win the boys’ under-12 title in the Saturday Club organised floodlit tennis tournament. Adrita Banerjee won the under-18 girls’ title beating Srishti Kumar 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. The girls’ under-14 title went to Angana Mukherjee. She beat Nesha Prosad 6-2, 6-1.
