Hazaribagh, Dec. 1: On the occasion of World AIDS Day, Tata Steel Rural Development Society (TSRDS) launched its three-day road show to create awareness.
TSRDS collaborated with Bharat Vikas Parishad to organise this programme. Veena Ojha, the president of Bharat Vikas Parishad flagged off the campaign vehicle. Speaking on the occasion, Ojha said, TSRDS’s contribution in the area of health awareness is commendable. TSRDS has also contributed in the field of social work, which has benefited villagers around West Bokaro.
S.S. Bakshi, another speaker, spoke about AIDS and its prevention. “If expectant mothers are HIV positive then she should consult doctors to prevent her child from getting the disease. Even after becoming a mother, she should not breast-feed her child. She should keep consulting doctors and follow all guidelines,” she added.
Dr Girish Sharma of TSRDS, in his welcome address, said his teams have distributed pamphlets, condoms and several other information on AIDS by conducting street plays. Jan Jagran Kala Manch of Chainpur enacted these plays. The campaign would continue in the nearby areas for two more days.
The campaign, which kicked off from West Bokaro covered different areas including Chowk no-12, Office Road, Area no-4 and on NH-33, Bharech Nagar, Ranchi Road, Ramgarh Bus Stand and Subhash Chowk. The team distributed condoms and organised street plays. An officer of Tata Steel, Rupesh Sharma, said the corporate giant is always organising programmes on various issues to benefit residents of Ghato.
