Calcutta/Tamluk, Dec. 1: Bengal police commandos have been deployed at Howrah and Sealdah stations as part of the railways move to beef up security at all important stations across the state after the Mumbai terror attacks.

The additional director-general of police (railways), Dilip Mitra, and Calcutta police commissioner Gautam Mohan Chakrabarti today held a meeting with home secretary Asok Mohan Chakrabarti at Writers’ Buildings. Director-general of police A.B. Vohra also attended the meeting.

“We have already deployed state police commandos at Howrah and Sealdah stations. We will also deploy them in stations like New Jalpaiguri and Kharagpur,” said Mitra, adding that he would visit north Bengal soon.
