Ex-jawans meet to keep connected

Kripan Division organised an ex-servicemen’s rally-cum-contributory health scheme at Binnaguri Cantonment on November 15. The event was attended by about 400 retired jawans, veer naris and the widows of those soldiers who died outside war scene. The gathering was addressed by the officiating General Officer Commanding, Brigadier P.P. Toor.

The event provided a forum for ex-jawans to interact with serving officers. Such events are held regularly for the integration of the ex-servicemen with the current ethos of the army.

lTrishakti Sappers are contributing their might in developing infrastructure in the higher reaches of North Sikkim. Equipment like excavator loaders, angle dozers and skid steers are being employed for the construction of operational tracks and roads in high altitudes.

The inclement weather makes the Trishakti Sappers’ task tough.

The officers are also constructing habitat for the troops manning the frozen reaches of the district, using the latest prefabricated modules with polyurethane insulation to provide shelters which are congenial for living at high altitudes.

Some of the latest material and designs from the world over have been evaluated and then modified to arrive at the best suited model for erecting in the border areas.

The sappers, who are also providing captive electricity with diesel-powered generators, are now are in the process of evaluating suitable aero-generators to save on precious fossil fuel.

The Trishakti Sappers are also installing field water supply schemes to augment the water availability there.
