Devising your own plan…

While you can always go to one of the weight loss clinics to lose weight, you can also devise your own plan provided you have the proper discipline. First, you need to find your basal metabolic rate and the total calories you require to maintain your weight. There are lots of Internet sites which will help you calculate that.

Now you need to do your own calorie burn calculations. Again, go to the web for help. Choose the activities you like most, work out how long you can do it per day, and feed it in one of the numerous calculators on the net with your weight in pounds or kilograms. You will get a fair idea of how much calories you will burn for each of these activities.

Once you have done that, work out a schedule and maintain a dairy. Push yourself to follow the schedule.

A couple of things. You may wish to also cut down on a bit of food along with increasing your activities. Even cutting down 200 to 500 calories per day from your normal food habits will help. There are enough sites which tell you what one helping of different Indian foods contains in terms of calories. Cutting down calories while increasing activities is a great idea provided you can take the punishment, of course.

There are literally hundreds of sites that will help you count calories burnt per activity. Some of the more popular ones are: http://primusweb.com/fi tnesspartner/jumpsite /calculat.htm http://www.healthdis covery.net/links/calcula tors/calorie_calculator .htm http://www.caloriesper hour.com/ http://www.caloriecontrol.org/exercalc.html

Incidentally, a smart thing to do is to add some weight training to your routine. Weight training builds muscles — and muscles consume more calories even at rest than pure flab. So if you do two days of weight training a week, and supplement it with four days of aerobics, you will be melting away fat in no time….
