Gymar pacers stifle West Club

Itanagar, Nov. 28: Gymar Taach XI entered the final of Arunachal Pradesh under-17 cricket league tournament, defeating West Club H XI by 12 runs in the first semi-final at Indira Gandhi Park here today.

Batting first, GT XI tallied a modest total of 163 runs losing eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Atup Gyamar scored a quickfire 37 runs in just 21 balls hitting two sixes and four fours. Brena Kri (37) and Suraj Pradhan (32) also chipped in with valuable contributions for their team. Nyade Ruksing, who scalped three wickets in his four overs conceding 34 runs, was the pick of the West Club H XI bowlers.

In reply, WC H XI managed to score only 151 runs losing eight wickets in 20 overs.

Kalung Nyine’s steady 44-ball-51 failed to make any difference as the rest of the batsmen could not handle the pressure. WC H XI lost their first wicket at the score of 56. At this point Nyine walked in as first down and steadied the ship to effect a fightback with Sukhujit Sinha (26).

However, a disciplined bowling attack, especially by GT XI pacers Tenzing Thangu and Atup Gyamar, restricted the team to 151, just 12 short of the victory target.

In the second semi-final of the day, Junior Cricket Club (JCC) edged past Nirjuli Market Welfare Committee (NMWC) by one wicket in a nail biting finish.

NMWC set a target of 110 in 20 overs losing seven wickets in stipulated 20 overs. JCC achieved the target in 19.3 overs losing nine wickets.

Takar Paja was the top scorer for Nirjuli with 29 runs. Komge Nake, who scored 19 runs off 17 balls and Ashutosh Kumar (18), guided JCC to a one-wicket victory.
