Dolu XI defeat Moinagarh

Hailakandi, Nov. 28: Dolu Tea Estate XI annexed the P.C. Chatterjee Football Championship title, beating Moinagarh Tea Estate XI by a solitary goal in the final at Arunabond Tea Estate ground on Thursday. Ajit Dushad scored the only goal in the 44th minute of a pass from Babul Orang.

Kamal Bagti and Ajit Dushad of the winning team were the top scorer and Man of the Match respectively. Nirmal Singha of Majagram tea estate was adjudged the best goalkeeper and Mahendra Anju of Moinagarh tea estate the best player of the tournament. Arunabond were named the most disciplined team.

Ramu Ravi Das soccer: Karimganj Football Gitanjali Club claimed the Ramu Ravidas Football Championship title, defeating Aparajita Club 5-4 in tie-breakers in the final at the Railway Colony ground of Karimganj yesterday. The match ended in a 2-2 draw in the stipulated time.

The championship was organised by the Arunabond tea estate of Cachar district and named after the estate’s owner, late P.C. Chatterjee.

Union heavy industries minister Sontosh Mohan Dev and officials of the District Sports Association of Silchar gave away the prizes.

Bright Star Club of Karimganj organised the tournament and altogether 12 teams of Karimganj participated. Sajal Paul of Aparajita Club was adjudged the Best Player of the tournament.
