Traders protest

Traders staged a protest near railway gate number two under Panbazar police station after a scuffle broke out between businessman P. Sharma and police constable B. Singh on Thursday. The protesters alleged that the constable assaulted the trader when he refused to pay a bribe. Senior police officers assured the traders of an inquiry into the matter.

Custody

Suspected NDFB member Nilim Daimary, who was arrested in connection with the October 30 blasts, was sent to five-day police custody after being produced in the court of the chief judicial magistrate, Kamrup, on Thursday.

Exam

The MPhil examination in Sanskrit under Gauhati University will be held in December. The last dates for submission of fees and forms are December 8 without fine and December 11 with fine.

The Kamrup (metro) administration on Thursday issued an order prohibiting cutting of earth at Madgharia hill, Kharghuli hill, Soonsali hill, Dakhingaon hill, Sarania hill, Hengerabari hill, Kamakhya hill, Santipur hill, Narakasur hill, Rani and Kahikuchi hill.
