Guwahati, Nov. 27: S.B. Deorah College marched into the final of the 1st LPK Sarma all-Assam inter-college cricket tournament at Latasil ground here today.
Deorah College rode piggyback on a solid knock of 71 runs by Raaj Hussain to clinch a smooth four-wicket victory over Guwahati Commerce College in the first semi-final today.
Chasing a victory target of 137 runs, Deorah College boys reached 137 for six in 21.3 overs. Earlier, Commerce College were all out for 136 in 26.5 overs.
Hussain’s knock off 52 balls was laced with eight boundaries and four huge sixes. He was later adjudged Man of the Match. Chandan Das contributed 20 (3x4) and Nurul Amin chipped in with 17.
Dhrubajyoti Laskar and Brajen Saikia of Commerce College picked up two wickets each, conceding 24 and 12 runs respectively. Sanjib Basumatary claimed one victim, giving away 20 runs.
Earlier, Utpal Choudhury topscored for Commerce College with a patient 33 (2x4, 1x6) while a run-a-ball 25, comprising four hits to the ropes, came off the bat of Siddharth Ojha. Vardhaman Patni also chipped in with a 21-run knock.
Lakshan Das of Deorah College scalped three wickets giving away 25 runs while Chandan Roy claimed two for 28. Masood Iqbal picked up one wicket for 13.
In the second semi-final tomorrow, Guwahati Medical College will clash with B. Borooah College. |
